Put Your Thoughts on Ice

My Search for Organization–A Flash Drive for School

April 21, 2008 By Hanna

I am on a quest to simplify my life. Between forty hours of work each week and being a part time grad-school student, I can’t seem to keep my head on straight. I’ve been looking for ways to consolidate things and give myself a dose organization. One of my bright ideas is to get myself a custom flash drive for school.

I really feel as though flash drive for school would help me get and stay organized. I have files for my classes all over the place, and it totally makes me crazy! I’m always referring back to different notes I’ve taken over the years or even papers I’ve written. I’m really feeling as though having a separate school flash drive would really help to make things easier and, more importantly, quicker to find.

It’s not as though USB flash drives are a new idea to me. I don’t always take my computer with me wherever I go–sometimes I’ll use the school computers or even a friend’s. So, of course, I’ve had USB flash drives before, but I wasn’t able to find one I really liked. Now that they’ve come down in price, I can afford to get the memory capabilities I really need.

There is also some digital curriculum that some of the classes are starting to pick up. I found out that with customized flash drives, I can get that curriculum put right onto the flash drive I buy! Man, the way things have changed over the years! It may sound nutty that I’m so impressed, but these academic flash drives are totally new to me . . . . I had no idea!

The other thing that I found that really amazed me (yes, there’s more!) is that the flash drives for schools can even come with your colors on it, or I can buy a customized flash drive with, say, my graduation year or my school logo! The cases can be made of leather, rubber, metal, or plastic, and they even come in different shapes!

When you think about it, though, USB flash drives have a multitude of advantages over CDs. They can hold a ton more information, can’t be scratched, and there are no moving parts in the reader, so there is less to break or go wrong. They are also easy to carry around with you–so tiny and compact. It’s super convenient to just put it in my pocket and go! As an aside, because I’m not always the best at remembering where I put everything (especially small things), the USB flash drive I chose attaches to my keychain!

I also had to consider security, not that my class notes and papers are necessarily confidential, but I would still like to know they are safe. So, I got my school flash drive password protected. I have to say, I’m really happy about how my flash drive for school has helped me save time and simplify. Now, I can move on to the next part of my life that needs to be organized–my closet!
