My in-laws just returned from a long-awaited, once-in-a-lifetime two-week trip to Italy. When the whole family went to their house for Easter dinner, we were marched into the dining room, where we found a pile of presents for each of us, some in celebration of Easter and some from Italy.
After the delights of the piles, in the middle of our ham dinner, Mom remembered that she had more gifts for us. She headed to the freezer and pulled out a dog-bone-shaped (roughly) plastic container of gelato, made in Italy–tiramisu, for the coffee addicts among us and chocolate, for the one who works at Starbucks and can’t stand coffee. After she teased us, that she had brought it home from Italy . . . “They have freezer compartments on the planes, now.” . . . she explained that the local grocery stores carry it.
Though a bit of a surprise to us, the stuff is great! Our tiramisu flavor has the coffee-soaked sponge cake on the bottom, with the gelato layered above.
