Put Your Thoughts on Ice

First Date Ideas for Teens

April 7, 2018 By Katrinah

Boy: “Hey, would you like to go out with me Friday night?”
Girl: “Yeah, I would love to.”
Boy: “What do you want to do?”
Girl: “I don’t know. What do you want to do?”
Boy: “I… don’t know.”

Deciding on a date night can be a difficult task for new relationships, especially relationships between young people. As you get to know the other person, be creative with what you do. The more you experience, the more memories you will create. These memories can help to improve your relationship and make it stronger. Below is a list of popular suggestions for date nights for teenagers:

Attend a school event

It might not be as private as you would like, but school events are a safe bet of a good time. Attend a sporting event or school dance. The two of you can get to know each other while showing school spirit. Other friends and familiar faces will be nearby to break any first date jitters between the two of you.

Recreational sports

A first date can be fun, especially if you share a friendly competition. Consider going bowling, roller skating, ice skating, miniature golfing, or to an amusement park. These activities can show your fun side and can give you an opportunity to make memories. If you want, invite a few other couples to come with you for friendly competition.

Cook dinner together

Agree on a yummy dish, and help each other prepare it. Check with your parents to make sure you can use their kitchen and their supplies. Then after you prepare dinner together, sit down and enjoy it. This is a great time to get to know each other and share a few laughs.

Take a hike

Many local, city, state, and national parks offer hiking and nature trails. Be adventurous together and enjoy the beauty of nature. Pack a picnic or a few sodas in a backpack; then when you find a shady spot, take a break and enjoy the view as you get to know one another.

Visit a museum

Museums can be interesting and educational. They can spark conversation and help you to learn more about your date’s interests. Most cities and towns have art museums, history museums, nature museums, or historical sites to visit. Zoos are also a fun and entertaining place to visit.

Take a factory tour

Factory tours are offered in many cities and towns. From favorite snack foods to motorcycle assembly lines, these tours come in many varieties. Many factory tours offer free or reduced admission to students and teenagers.

Do volunteer work

Volunteer activities can show how compassionate and caring your significant other is. Take the time to help others and have fun while doing so. Popular charity activities include Habitat for Humanity, charity walks, helping your local library or retirement village, fund raising, and cleaning up your neighborhood.

There are many options for you and your date. Whatever you and your significant other choose to do, be sure to have fun. Enjoy the time spent with the other person, and if you both have fun on your date, plan another one. Always think of new ideas to keep the dates interesting and fun.
